Privacy Policy

The short version

• Most tools process your PDF entirely inside your browser. The file is never sent to our servers.
• PDF to Word is the exception: your file is sent to our conversion server, and the original is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes.
• We never sell your data and never use your documents to train AI models.
• We use analytics and error-monitoring services to understand usage and fix bugs. They never receive the contents of your files.
• PDFtip is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. Ad providers never receive the contents of your files.

How your files are handled

Tools such as merge, split, compress, rotate, watermark, sign, edit, protect, unlock, repair, OCR, and the PDF to Markdown, Excel, PNG and text converters run locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file stays on your device and is discarded when you close or reload the page.

PDF to Word: the PDF you select is uploaded over an encrypted connection to our conversion server. The uploaded PDF and temporary files are deleted immediately after conversion. The resulting Word file is stored with our storage provider (Cloudflare R2) so that you can download it.

When a tool fails, we may record the tool name, the error message, the page address, and the file name and size so we can fix the problem. The file itself is never uploaded.

Information collected automatically

Google Analytics collects usage data such as pages visited, approximate location (country/city), device and browser type, and referring website.

Microsoft Clarity records anonymized interactions (clicks, scrolling, and page layout) to create heatmaps and session replays that help us improve the interface. Clarity masks text you type. It does not see the contents of your files.

Sentry collects error reports (error message, browser and operating system, page address, and file name if the error involved a file) so that we can find and fix bugs.

Advertising

PDFtip uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to PDFtip and other sites. You can learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com). You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info/choices or www.youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent through a consent message before personalized ads or advertising cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link shown on the site.

Information you give us

If you use the feedback widget or the contact form, we receive what you submit, such as your message, rating, and email address if you provide one. These messages are delivered to us by email through Resend and are used only to reply to you and improve PDFtip.

Cookies

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity use cookies and similar technologies to measure visits. Google AdSense and its partners use advertising cookies as described in the Advertising section above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.

Service providers

We rely on the following providers, each with its own privacy policy: Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery and file storage), Hugging Face (PDF to Word conversion server), Google Analytics, Google AdSense (advertising), Microsoft Clarity, Sentry, and Resend. We share with them only what is needed for their service.

Data retention

Files processed in your browser are never stored by us. Analytics and error data are kept according to each provider’s retention settings. Feedback and contact emails are kept only as long as needed to respond. To have a converted Word file removed sooner, contact us with its download link.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data about you, or to object to its processing. Because we have no accounts, we usually hold little or nothing that identifies you, but we will help with any request sent to help@pdftip.com.

Children

PDFtip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
