About PDFtip

PDFtip is an independent website, running since 2024, that offers free PDF tools you can use without creating an account. Our goal is simple: everyday PDF tasks should be quick, free, and should not require handing your documents to a stranger’s server.

Why we built it

Many online PDF services upload every file to their servers, limit how many tasks you can run per day, or push you to subscribe. We wanted tools that run on your own device instead, so your contracts, invoices and personal documents stay with you.

How it works

Most PDFtip tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. They are built on well-established open-source projects:

  • PDF.js (Mozilla) for rendering pages and extracting text
  • pdf-lib for merging, splitting, editing, signing and watermarking
  • QPDF (compiled to WebAssembly) for encryption, unlocking and repair
  • Ghostscript (compiled to WebAssembly) for compression
  • Tesseract.js for OCR text recognition

What we don’t do

  • No sign-up, no daily limits, no paywalls
  • No selling of data, and no use of your documents to train AI models
  • No upload of your files when a tool fails — we only log the error

Transparency

PDF to Word currently converts files on our server; the uploaded PDF is deleted right after conversion. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly which tools run locally, which services we use, and what data they receive.
